Nope, not talking about me for once. Just ran across a local photographer’s website and was a little surprised when I looked @ his “services” page. * note he has since changed it (barely- same services, prices, and damn near similar descriptions) — but you can see the original in the screengrab below.

Gee– those words sure look familiar. Could it be? Yup, they’re familiar because I wrote them!

Here’s my services page:

The guy didn’t even change the pricing or order in how his services are listed! And– here’s what really gets me, at the bottom of his site it says, “All Images and Site Content Copyright © 2009 by xxxxxx Photography”! (sorry, I’m not willing to boost his SEO so I’m not listing his name here). Gee– really? Your site content, some of which you DID NOT even create, is protected by your copyright? Ha ha ha… now that’s a joke!

The point of this post is that you should do your research when hiring a photographer. Some photographers steal content from other photographers and claim it as their own. Sure, it looks pretty good on the web but what about when you get a photographer like this on set? Are they going to be able to think for themselves? Are they going to have to get on the web to swipe ideas from other photographers?

Might as well hire the best in the first place.
