Finally have all my beauty shots on my website resized to the new dimensions plus added a couple of pics and pulled off a couple more. My website is constantly updated and revised so that’s always the best place (along with this blog!) to check out my latest work.
And… couple of other changes in the works for my website too so stay tuned for updates!

The day after my 5D2 arrived, I was assigned a shoot in a massive sewer pipe being constructed under Portland. So I slapped on the 16-35 and took the 5D2 down for a spin.

As you can imagine, there are spots in the sewer that get pretty dark. Cranked up the 5D2 to ISO 5000 (!) with no problems. These photos are processed a bit weird, but that was a software issue, not a camera issue. I’m not certain my camera raw upgrade installed properly and couldn’t get my bulk actions to work.

But again– the camera amazed me with it’s ability to shoot low light conditions. I had a 40D with me too, cranked to ISO 1600, and was not nearly as impressed. In a couple of these shots, there was virtually no light and I still was able to get an image.

Anyway, of course I’ll be testing out the camera in studio conditions too! But so far, I’m impressed. Oh– and just in case you’re wondering why I’m not updating this blog as often as I used to, it’s because I’m crazy busy! I’m shooting a lot of photojournalism these days and generally don’t post those images here for a variety of reasons. But just had to post my 5D2’s first outing!

So it’s always a challenge for a photographer to connect with a subject in a short amount of time yet it’s pretty much a given for the job. I’m a visual person so I observe people and ask about what I see. This girl looked kind of tired and run down to me when we first started shooting. I asked about that and she told me she had had a miscarriage a few days prior. I don’t think I believe her but I want to when I see this image. There’s something kind of haunting about it to me.
