Available to shoot on location, in tight spaces (like your boutique), Pete Springer Photography, Portland, Oregon, is a great choice for designers, boutiques, store owners, and fashion models who need images for the web, portfolios, advertising, catalogs, etc.
Here’s a sample of how it works from a shoot in a local boutique. I bring everything, you provide the model and clothes, you end up with front, back, and side photos of everything you need– from dresses to shirts to handbags. This particular client wants headless shots to emphasize the clothes– but I can shoot faces too!

Also, backdrops of any other colors available too. Yeah, yeah, you can use your point & shoot cam to shoot your designs, but wouldn’t your time and skills be better served by hiring a professional photographer? I also handle all the post-production work, freeing you to concentrate on what you do best — whether that’s running a boutique or designing clothes.

While I prefer to shoot photos of living people, sometimes my day job takes me in different directions than my personal aspirations.
Shot this photo a couple of years ago at funeral for a local kid killed in Iraq. Speaking just as a photographer, sometimes you completely have to shut down all emotions when shooting– I remember coming very, very close to tears at this service and actually having to duck out a side door so I wouldn’t lose it. Is it any wonder I enjoy shooting fashion more than photojournalism?

Did a photojournalism shoot yesterday about removal of Sandy River dams. This guy helps sort wild and hatchery fish at the Marmot dam.
Anyway, shot a whole series that will be part of what we call an audio postcard and will be featured on OPB. You’ll be able to see it by this afternoon here:

Here’s a recent photo I shot in Portland designer Emily Katz’s studio. Normally I’m not a fan of still-lifes– especially shot with existing light. But I really like how this one turned out.
And I finally figured out how to fairly accurately use my PW’s with an off-camera strobe– no wires and I can meter them! That is going to be a huge bonus on these tight space, portrait type shoots. The camera strobes aren’t as powerful as studio strobes (maybe f3.5 with modifier for a full body shot), but they’re a lot smaller and faster to setup and they don’t require electricity. Perfect for quickie PJ-type portraits.

One of my photos in Willamette Week newspaper today. It’s from a fashion show last year for a preview to this year’s show. The paper selected the photo– editors rarely select the photos I expect! And I’m rarely thrilled with WW’s captions, but hey, I’m not complaining since they pay!
